Essential oils are ultra-potent oils, extracted from plants and flowers that have been utilized in medicine for centuries. You probably don't realize that you already use essential oils every day. They are in perfumes, shampoos, soaps, ointments and medicines. Essential oils are super concentrated aromatic liquids, so their scent is remarkably strong.
Three notable essential oils are most powerful in their antiseptic properties, and could even be called antimicrobial or even antibiotic. These are the essential oils of Oregano (Origanum vulgare), Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Thyme (Thymus vulgaris).
Oregano, and especially Origanum Vulgare ssp. Hirtum, has antioxidant, antiviral, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, antiparasitic, digestive and antibacterial properties, as well as very potent aroma and intense flavor.
